SYNOPSIS
Seventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love—she’s lived through it twenty-six times. She crushes hard and crushes often, but always in secret. Because no matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.
Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly’s totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie’s new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. Will is funny and flirtatious and just might be perfect crush material. Maybe more than crush material. And if Molly can win him over, she’ll get her first kiss and she’ll get her twin back.
There’s only one problem: Molly’s coworker Reid. He’s an awkward Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there’s absolutely no way Molly could fall for him. Right?
MY SPOILER FREE REVIEW
“Because I have to admit: there's something really badass about truly, honestly not caring what people think about you.”
I read this book not so recently but I remember the narrative so vividly, and I also remember reading this in one day and I also remember buying all simonverse books after reading this book.
This book is that good!!
I cannot review this book now as it has been so long but this is what I had felt then and now.
If I remember correctly I related so much with Molly, Reid, and almost every character, and also all characters are well developed in a short time.
And I can say I felt molly’s strong voice reverbing through my body.
And yeah, it really feels so exhaustive to not be who you are,
to be what you want,
to be and to not like who you want to,
to not know how it feels to be loved by the person you love,
and to be anxious always that it might not seem “normal” to the side walkers!
Simon Vs. is the first book that made me realize all the shit I’m going through and also reassured me that this will turn out good!
At that time I don’t know this book is part of the Simon verse but I recommend reading Simon Vs. before reading this as this book may potentially spoil.
Here is the quote I’ve liked so much.
“You would matter. That's the thing. I get into this weird place sometimes where I worry about that. I've never told anyone this - not my mom, not Cassie - but that's the thing I'm most afraid of. Not mattering. Existing in a world that doesn't care who I am.”
Here's a little excerpt from the book.
